Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Israel must be confronted and eliminated if the Jewish state launched a military action in the Middle East region, said the government broadcasting agency IRIB, Thursday.
Ahmadinejad's statement was made when the president spoke by telephone with colleagues from Syria on Wednesday night.
Last week, Syria - a key ally of Iran's area - accused Israel of pushing the Middle East towards a new war.
Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al Hariri in an interview broadcast on Wednesday said the Israeli aircraft entered everyday Lebanese airspace, which caused a very dangerous situation.
"We have reliable information - that the Zionist regime had been looking for a way to offset losses from the people of Gaza and the Lebanese Hizbullah group," said Ahmadinejad told Syrian President Bashar al Assad, referring to the conflict in 2009 and 2006.
"If the Zionist regime must repeat its mistakes and start a military operation, then action must be resisted with full force to end it once and for all."
Ahmadinejad, who often predicts death of the Jewish state soon, said Iran would remain in the countries the region, including Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.
The Islamic Republic does not recognize Israel, which he called the Zionist regime. Israel considers Iran's nuclear program as a threat and has not ruled out military action if diplomacy fails to resolve the dispute.
Iran's largest crude oil exporter to the fifth world, said it would respond to any attack on nuclear facilities which the country is part of the energy program for peaceful purposes but the West suspects is aimed at making atomic bombs.
In a statement late last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was not planning an attack into Lebanon in the near future. Lebanese group Hezbollah launched 4,000 rocket attacks in the 34-day war in 2006.
Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman responded to Syria's accusations last week by saying Damascus and Assad will lose will lose power in any future conflict. Netanyahu then ensure Syria that Israel seek peace with Damascus.
