Obama Hopes for Better Result in Copenhagen

If President Obama falls into place unrewarded of the U.N. Group discussion on global climate change, it will be the second time in three months he's been bring down in Copenhagen. It was on that October 6th that he suffered a humiliating shoot down while his appeal to the International Olympic Committee fell on deafen ears and Chicago's bidding to host the summertime Games in 2016 was definitely declined.

"I urge you to select Chicago," the president told that daytime in Copenhagen. "I urge you to select America."

The appeal was neglected and Chicago was the beginning of the final four would-be host cities to be eliminated. Eleven weeks later he will be in Copenhagen once again in explore of an international understanding to counter advances in global warming. "It is all important that all states do what is essential to achieve a hard functional agreement that will present the threat of global climate change when serving as a stepping-stone to a lawfully binding treaty," Mr. Obama said around the group discussion.

But no one asks a lawfully binding accord - and a "hard in operation arrangement" possibly on the far side achieve too. All the same, Mr. Obama all the same believes it is worth his time and attempt to travel 8,100 miles to spend 10 hours in the Danish capital.

He will get a chance to address the accounts of other world leaders attending to the end of the group discussion. It will be a different high-stakes moment for him on the world stage - one where he could make his case about facing up the threats posed by global warming. If nothing else, the leaders will pose for a class photo they can bring home as a souvenir besides a treaty.

A older administration official calls the Copenhagen conference the "most complex negotiation" Mr. Obama has faced up since taking office. And if he comes home without a deal, he will keep trying, says the official.
